Resource 3: How will you get active today A4 hardcopy

This resource is designed for children aged 4-6 who are preparing to start school. The activities encourage daily physical activity, whether children are playing on their own or with others. By learning simple games, children can join in without adult direction, helping them build confidence to manage their own play during unstructured times like recess, lunch and free play at school.

WayAhead Webinar for educators

Childhood Anxiety and Transition to School Webinar for Early Childhood Educators and Early Stage 1 Teachers

When: Tuesday 11th August 2026

5:30pm- 6:45pm

Where: online via Zoom

Central Coast Local Health District in partnership with Wayahead NSW Mental Health Association are offering Early Childhood Educators and Early Stage 1 Teachers an opportunity to come together to consider the issues around transition to school for children who experience anxiety.

Topics include:

Understanding childhood anxiety
Separation anxiety
Strategies to help children in both Preschool and Kindergarten settings

The webinar can be watched as a group as part of a staff meeting with one login or individually by educators.

All services will receive the link to share with their educators/ colleagues for individual login.

Resource 7: Transition to school video series

Northern Sydney Local Health District has created a series of free, 1-2 minute videos that provide information and activities to support children for a successful transition to school.

Key topics include:

supporting the transition to school

practising fine and gross motor skills at home
developmental milestones and support
developing independence and self-care skills
fundamental movement skills
interpersonal and self-management skills
practical activities to support interpersonal
self-management skills
